In case you’ve forgotten how we do travel write-ups on Economy Class and Beyond, I have two major travel writing styles:
- Trip Reports – These are full deep-dive reports taking you into the experience and the small things… as well as the big things!
- Snapshots – These are bite-sized reviews that show you the basic product in some nice gentle headlines (and normally, only images shot on the phone)
Today, we’re on the Snapshot. The full in-depth review is… many cups of coffee away.
And I mean many.
Location
The Crowne Plaza O’Hare is on North River Road, located near several other hotels within walking distance (the Hyatt Regency, DoubleTree, Embassy Suites and Lowes). It is about 4 “blocks” away from Rosemont L Station or via an hourly shuttle bus to O’Hare Airport.
A recent “hack” for those who don’t like to walk, is that you can use the Pace 811 Rosemont Entertainment Circular from Rosemont L Station, either stopping at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Centre and crossing the road, or at the Fashion Outlets of Chicago, and crossing through a car park and a road.
Check-in
I arrived from O’Hare Terminal 5 around noon. I was able to check in immediately, with a room allocated on the 14th floor.
I was given the choice of points or a drink at the bar as a welcome amenity – I took the points, as 600 points are 600 points.
After payment was given, keycards were issued for the room.
The Room
I had a king bedroom for this hotel stay, near one of the ends of the corridors. The room had a king bed in it, a glass-topped table for working, TV, Tea and coffee amenities and a lounging sofa with legs rest.
The bathroom was reasonably well appointed, with it filled with amenities. These were of the individual type, as opposed to bulk-product amenities.
Breakfast
As part of the rate I was on, breakfast was offered downstairs at the “On The Fly” dining option. This was offered as a buffet option, with both pre-packed and hot items available for consumption.
Check Out
Check-out was a simple affair, with my details confirmed and no further charges being levied against the room. From there, I walked with my luggage to the Hyatt Regency O’Hare.
